Tips for Thinning Hair

At Tailor Barber Co. we think thinning hair is a natural part of getting older. Want tips for making the best of it? Here is the real scoop on what your options are:

1. Play with your hairstyle and haircut

Your barber is specifically trained to be an expert at hair loss and styles that work best for thinning hair. Don’t be afraid to tell your barber you want a style to make your hair look the fullest.

2. Scalp massage and Exfoliation.

Gently put pressure around your scalp with your fingertips. This helps blood flow more easily to the follicles and promotes hair growth. Removing dead skin cells makes it easier for all your hair follicles to come out from the root.

3. Play with fiber building products like Toppiks

Try a fiber-building product that adds color and fullness to your style and then washes out.  You can use it when you want and don’t when you don’t.

4.  Nanoxidil- DS Labs Revita and DNC-N

Nanoxidil is a newer non-greasy version of rogaine, a topical hair loss treatment.  This is an inexpensive and non-invasive way to keep the hair you have and potentially grow some back. Nanoxidil is approved by the FDA for use at home, and there are plenty of studies proving that it can help.

This gets our vote for an easy first step in preventing hair loss.

5. Vitamins

Try a multivitamin rich in iron, folic acid, and zinc to ensure that hair grows back consistently thick and healthy. Additional supplements include Biotin, Omega-3 fatty acids, and a diet high in protein.  Talk to your doctor before you take any new vitamins.

6. Own it

Hair loss is natural, sometimes owning your own style is the best solution for you.
